MDF (Supawood) vs Melamine
MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is ideal for surfaces, cabinets, built-ins and many other home and storage solutions. MDF is a mix of wood chips, wood fibre and resin that is compressed with heat and pressure to create a dense, uniform piece of MDF. As MDF is so dense, it is easier to cut without breaking or compromising its integrity. Melamine is a mix of wood chips and resin used to create a single piece of board. This may be sturdy as a solid, but may lose structural integrity when cut. MDF is therefore stronger, denser, doesn’t crumble or warp and is less likely to swell.
How to care for your kitchen cabinets:
Make sure you dust and wipe regularly with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. A slightly damp cloth may be used, taking care not to apply too much water as this may result in water damage.
